Ellen Darnall is the director of our Diabetes Self-Management Education Program. She has earned a certificate of recognition from the American Diabetes Association.

Ellen will begin by completing a quick assessment with you. She will ask you about your life, diabetes or medical history, medication and supplement routine, weight loss efforts, and current diet (including dietary patterns). After the assessment is complete, we will review the education topics that are relevant to you.
Together we will brainstorm ideas to better your health through diet, physical activity, and education to best suit your individual health goals. Every Medical Nutrition Therapy or Diabetes Education session is different because every person needs support tailored to their current medical status, life, and unique needs.
According to the CDC, “…Diabetes prevention and management strategies are a good value in terms of cost per quality-adjusted life year (QALY) gained.” Meaning, the years of life you gain from Diabetes Education and Medical Nutrition Therapy are well worth the investment.
Grunberger Diabetes Institute (GDI) provides offers Diabetes and Endocrine management, Medical Nutrition Therapy, as well as through our weight management program. Care at GDI is individualized. We treat the patient, not just the ailment. What this means is that each person’s wellbeing is assessed and their treatment plan includes an improvement of their overall health and quality of life.
